Fraser Valley Chapter

The Fraser Valley Chapter, which chartered on December 16, 2009 and currently has 29 members. Of these, many hold their Certified Professional Secretary and/or Certified Administrative Professional designation. The chapter prides itself on its professionalism, commitment to quality programs and professional development. The majority of our meetings offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs), which are required to recertify as a CAP or CAP-OM (required every 5 years) and may be applied towards college credit at some universities.

While our Chapter is young, we are proud of some of the history within our chapter.  The chapter is priviledged to have a number of Western Canada Division officers as well as Past International President, Barb Horton, CAP-OM.

Guests are very welcome at our meetings, which are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month from September through June. Chapter meetings follow Parliamentary procedures with Robert's Rules of Order. The Board of Directors (President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) are elected annually and appoint the Chairs of the Chapter Committees to complete the Board of Directors.

The Fraser Valley Chapter (supporting administrative professionals in the Lower Mainland - Port Coquitlam, Langley, Surrey, Abbotsford, etc.) was sponsored by the Vancouver Chapter, one of the larger and longer standing chapters in Canada.

Past-President Deborah Gomersall says, "Our first meeting was in October [2009] and from there the response and enthusiasm of administrative professionals in the Fraser Valley was amazing - allowing us to charter a month ahead of schedule. I believe this may be a first, chartering a chapter just after two months of meetings - an incredible accomplishment."
